Using the very poor example of the late Anna Nicole Smith, the BBC is running a story on how there have been more passport breaches (after stories about how passport files for Obama, Clinton, and McCain were breached).  The interesting line in the story is:  “State department officials told AP the review involved several hundred US citizens whose passport files are flagged for extra  because of their prominence”.  The qualifications, appparently, for extra protection on your data are t you are a “politician, entertainer, and/or athlete”.  So if I run a marathon, will the state department better protect my data?  The irony, of course, is that they do such a poor job of protecting the data it doesn’t seem to matter if some people are more important than others.
