As if it would be any surprise, the Congressional Budget Office is publishing their revised estimates of the Iraq and Afghanistan war costs, and they’re estimating that it could cost $2.4 TRILLION dollars through 2017. As there are 300,000,000 people in the US, that’s about $8,000 per man woman and child. (The article also reminds us that Bush originally claimed that the wars would cost $50 billion.)

Of course, the war might cost less if people could keep track of the money. When you don’t even have confidence in your own accounting records, that means that the audit will go poorly, as can be read in the article. This is also not the first time that money has gone missing in Iraq. There are many stories about it.
