Everyone has heard by now that of some of the $30 billion dollars that went to Iraq as cash, almost $9 billion of that is missing. Now, it appears that weapons and munitions are being sold by American contractors (with no apparent care as to whom their customers are), and whistleblowers who report these efforts are being demoted in their companies, or worse, being kidnapped and interrogated. The reconstruction in Iraq is apparently rife with corruption, but those people who are honest enough to do something about it are being told by their own government, in no uncertain terms, that the government not only doesn’t care, but will make examples of them by depriving them of their freedom and interrogating them for months. If it wasn’t before, it should be completely obvious to everyone that no one in the administration actually wants anything to go well in Iraq.
